Presenter

Jean Becker
Jean lived in a place with no Mensa group twenty-five years ago. She and a friend decided to start an area group in Ann Arbor, and the rest just kind of followed. Jean is the Chair of American Mensa and a member of the Executive Committee of Mensa International.

Goals

After a presentation and group discussion, each participant will be able to:
  1. Explain the difference between a police matter and something which should be handled within Mensa.
  2. Describe the best course of action if substance abuse or mental illness is suspected.
  3. List the five steps to take if under attack.
  4. List one or more personal "hot buttons".
  5. State three things to avoid in order to not escalate a situation.
  6. List places that must be checked before a threat is issued.
  7. List three things to try to defuse difficult situations.
  8. Tell why formal hearings are undesirable, but where to get information about them.
